Academic Program

Digital Egypt Builders Initiative aims to graduate outstanding young cadres in the latest areas of information and communication technology. The initiative includes four main areas: Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Robotics and Automation, and Digital Arts. These areas were meticulously selected to suit the requirements of Egypt Vision 2030 and the local and international job market.

The academic program comprises ten subjects with a total of 30 credit hours, including the graduation project syllabus. In the first semester, which lasts for four months, the four core subjects of the area of specialization are taught. In the second semester, three subjects of specialization are taught and will continue in the third semester. Students will also complete their graduation project in the third semester.

The subjects and study plan for each university will be announced according to the area of specialization and the university upon completion of registration process and admission of students.

The role of the international university is as follows:

• Granting a professional master's degree in one of the technical areas of specialization in information and communication technology

• Cooperating with the Egyptian side in identifying the academic program, practical training and student admission requirements

• Taking part with the Egyptian professors in implementing the educational process

• Drawing up a perception of the specialized labs required for each area of specialization

• Proposing graduation projects and supervising the implementation in cooperation with global companies

Areas of Specialization:

Data Science and Artificial Intelligence have received increasing attention since the last decade due to the significant advancements in hardware accelerators and digitalization. This reflected positively on deep learning techniques and facilitated making use of available big data in a vast range of domains (e.g. telecommunications, healthcare, agriculture, government, education, etc.). The area of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence focuses mainly on applying data science, optimization, and machine learning techniques to solve real-world challenges and problems.

The educational objectives of the program are:

• To gain hands-on experience to implement artificial intelligence to solve problems

• To grasp knowledge on a wide range of topics (e.g. machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, etc.),

• To effectively undertake and manage large scale and complex artificial intelligence projects

• To engage in designing and implementing intelligent systems of high quality and reliability

• To assess and analyze problems in addition to suggesting solutions associated with development of intelligent systems

• To be able to determine necessary infrastructure to develop competitive artificial intelligence solutions

• To apply artificial intelligence techniques to contribute to overcoming emerging humanity challenges

The expanded use of the internet in our daily life activities (e.g. internet banking, social media, online shopping, etc.) is tightly coupled with the increase of cyber attacks’ rate. Cyberattacks became a real threat to our sensitive data. Attackers exploit continuously updated techniques to overcome traditional security controls. Accordingly, Cyber Security became crucial and receives increasing attention nowadays. Our area of Cyber Security focuses mainly on applying safety techniques and mechanisms to secure computer systems, computer networks and electronic data from potential attacks.

The educational objectives of the program are:

• To develop skilled workforce to help protect Egypt from potential cyber-threats, while ensuring the alignment of security priorities with the business needs and strategies of the country

• To provide graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills required to protect and defend computer systems and networks

• To prepare graduates who can identify, analyze, and remediate computer security breaches

• To prepare graduates who can plan, implement, and monitor cyber security mechanisms to help ensure the protection of information technology assets.

Robotics and Automation is one of the most discussed topics in recent years; robots are becoming ubiquitous in industrial environments as well as in everyday life. Mobile service robots that have cognitive capabilities can be used in a vast range of applications, for example they can be deployed in domestic/office environments to look after senior people, household tasks, etc.

The educational objectives of the program are:

• To promote a high-quality educational opportunity in the area of advanced and intelligent robotics

• To provide students with relevant theoretical knowledge and practical skills to become robotic navigation and perception specialists

• To promote interdisciplinary AI engagement

• To enable participants to acquire expertise in gesture recognition, machine learning, movement capture and analysis and human-computer interaction, etc.

The world of Digital Arts has become more accessible and the quality of artworks has noticeably been improved with the increase of technological developments in all areas. Digital Arts can be defined as any artistic work created with the aid of a computer. It includes game development, animation movies and others. Studying Digital Arts as a specialization allows students to move from traditional pen and paper methods to digital media by acquiring and developing 2D and 3D technical skills in relation to many careers in the areas of game development, animation and production of various visual media.

The educational objectives of the program are:

• To develop necessary digital art knowledge to understand the requirements of this area

• To be familiar with the tools and techniques that are most commonly used in this area

• To produce innovative artworks with both new technologies and traditional tools

• To explore and integrate advanced technology with a focus on its impact on the development of artworks
